The Raider is a highly maneuverable ship, which has probably been adapted for interstellar battle by the Kazon. Though a single Raider does not present a significant threat to larger, well-defended ships, a group of Raiders have enough weaponry between them to eventually inflict significant damage on a vessel such as the U.S.S. Voyager. Kazon ships vary greatly in size. The largest are carrier vessels or mother ships, which are considerably larger than the Voyager. The smallest ships are scout vessels, which only require a crew of one. These scout vessels can be stored in landing bays in their larger counterparts. All Kazon ships are of the same basic design. They are a dark brown-gold in color, and are blimp or dirigible-shaped, with a distinctive vertical fin hanging from the front. The drive engines are at the rear. The smaller ships are capable of entering a planet's atmosphere, but it is not clear whether the large vessels have this ability or not. Kazon Raiders have warp and impulse engines. and shields that can withstand limited phaser fire. The Kazon do not possess transporter, replicator, or related technologies. Kazon ships do not have cloaking devices but, in 2371, a group of Kazon make modifications to their ship, suggested by the Voyager renegade Seska, that temporarily conceal it from that ship.
